Clean Air Zones
Do you operate from one of these cities (see image)? Do your vehicles visit these locations? Are you aware of the costs for your vehicles, the requirement to be compliant would be Euro VI.
Have you made representations to the council concerned, or through your trade body: RHA, CPT FTA.
Operator Licensing Undertakings
This month we look at the undetaking that "Vehicles and trailers, including hired vehicles and trailers, are kept in a fit and serviceable condition".
You may say that this is no problem for us, we have our PMI checked at the agreed service intervals! Are your vehicles also serviced as per the manufacturers service intervals? Do you use genuine parts? Do you know what parts are used by your service provider? A badly serviced vehicle or the fitting of non genuine parts could affect the vehicle emissions.
Please remember that all new and hired vehicles/trailers should undergo a pre use PMI before they are first used. This should include an RBT.
Prevention of bridge strikes
Following on from last months article a new website has been launched by Network Rail to inform Operators an Drivers called Wise Up, Size Up.
Recent landmark legal cases mean Network Rail can now claim back from hauliers the huge costs incurrd by bridge strikes - and they are aiming to claim back 100 per cent.
We also provide links to some great Tool Box Talks that can be deleivered to you operatives.
